We've curated the ultimate guide for the Ennis Bluebonnet Trails and Festival! Celebrating 73 Years of Ennis Bluebonnet Trails: Ennis was designated by the 1997 State Legislature as the home of the Official Texas Bluebonnet Trail and was designated the Official Bluebonnet City of Texas. From April 1-30, Ennis showcases over 40 miles of mapped driving trails, and tens of thousands of visitors make the trek to Ennis to view this wonderful wildflower show. Ennis is a short drive from the Dallas-FortWorth metroplex (35 miles south of Downtown Dallas on I-45) , Ennis is just a day-trip away!


BLUEBONNET FESTIVAL GUIDE

Get ready to enjoy live music, food, shopping vendors, beer, wine wander and 40 miles of beautiful bluebonnets!


Admission

Heads up, this festival has ​CASHLESS ADMISSION - Admission prices are $5 for adults; kids 12 and under are free. Admission is by credit or debit card only. No pre-sale tickets. Purchases at gate only.

Parking

There will be limited street parking available along the festival grounds, but we have public parking lots in the area! Check out where to park below.

Shopping

There are no shortage of shopping at the Ennis Bluebonnet Trails Festival! Shop over 55 unique vendors with food, merchandise, and arts. You can also shop local merchants in our picturesque downtown! Learn more about historic Downtown Ennis and get the map here. You can also head to the Downtown Ennis Bluebonnet Market on Saturdays from 8 am-12 pm and shop local vendors.


Guided wildflower walks at Kachina Prairie

Join the Indian Trail Chapter, Texas Master Naturalists for a Wildflower Walk at Kachina Prairie during the Ennis Bluebonnet Trails and Festival! Enjoy a guided ¾ mile walk through a stunning 30-acre undisturbed prairie! This event is family-friendly and educational. Closed-toe shoes recommended. Kachina Prairie is an Ennis treasure – a 30-acre remnant native, never-plowed prairie, now being actively conserved by a coalition of the Ennis Garden Club, Indian Trail Chapter, Texas Master Naturalists, City of Ennis, Texas-Government, and the Texas Land Conservancy.

Saturday, April 12 – 10 AM, 12 PM, 2 PM, & 4 PM

Sunday, April 13 – 1 PM & 3 PM

Know before you go: wildflower etiquette

Here’s what you have to know before you go:

  • Do not stop in the middle of the road as these roads are public with through traffic

  • Drive slowly and watch out for pedestrians.

  • Please respect private property and not cross any fences or open any gates. Trespassing laws still apply on the trails.

  • Watch where you sit or step. There may be critters, ants, and snakes in the wildflowers.

  • Do not trample the bluebonnets. Please leave the area as beautiful as you found it.


Start your journey at the Ennis Welcome Center

Your first stop should be the Ennis Welcome Center. Here, you can find: free maps of wildflower viewing areas, information on the best times to see the blooms, suggestions for scenic drives and trails, local events and activities, and so much more! While at the Ennis Welcome Center, be sure to browse our charming downtown shops for handmade goods and gifts. Get a copy of the 2025 Ennis Bluebonnet Trails map here.


Where to stop along the Ennis Bluebonnet Trails

Please only get out of your car and take at the locations listed on the legend of the map. We have incredible public parks in Ennis to enjoy the blooms! Here are some of our favorite:

  • Ennis Veterans Memorial Park (2301 Ennis Pkwy)

    • Be sure to stop and view the incredible veterans memorial while you're here!

  • Bluebonnet Park (201 S Hwy 287)

  • Kachina Prairie (1816 W. Baldridge St)

  • Meadow View Nature Area (1901 Laneview Dr, Only open during the month of April)


What to do while in Ennis

If you're looking for fun things to do in the area, look no further! Head to the Downtown Ennis Bluebonnet Market on Saturdays from 8 am-12 pm and shop local vendors. Check out the Spring into Art display in the Welcome Center all month long. Explore Downtown botiques and unique dining options.
